TikTok has added a range of new courses and guides to help you build your TikTok Shop presence, including a “Creator Pilot Program,” content policy quizzes, scores for your TikTok Shop guideline compliance, and more.
And with the holiday season fast approaching, now is the time to get involved if you’re thinking about extending your listings to the app.
First off, TikTok has rolled out an updated Creator Pilot Program, which is designed to both guide sellers and affiliates through TikTok’s shopping requirements, while also limiting misuse of its Shop tools.
As explained by TikTok:
“New Affiliate and Marketing creators with more than 1000, but fewer than 5,000 followers automatically begin their experience through a 30-day Creator Pilot Program. This program allows those who haven't yet met requirements for full posting access to begin monetizing their content on TikTok Shop.”
As TikTok notes, those undertaking the Pilot Program will be restricted in how they can use TikTok’s product listings till they complete the program, with participants restricted to a maximum of 5 product promotion videos and 3 LIVEs per week in the initial period.
There are also limits on how you can use TikTok’s other Shop tools in this initial period, which, as noted, helps to ensure that creators go through the full learning process, and limits abuse of TikTok’s selling tools.
Along a similar line, TikTok’s also added new “Creator Policy Quizzes,” which will test participant knowledge on common rule violations.
“The answers can be found in the TikTok Shop Academy's Content Policy. If one of your videos or livestreams receives a violation, and there's a related quiz, you're given the option of taking it. Doing so can refresh your knowledge about content policies and if you pass the quiz, improve your account standing as well.”
So the system is designed to ensure that TikTok Shop creators have actually read the rules, and are at the least aware of them, and how they are being enforced.
TikTok’s also added new measurement scores that aim to highlight key areas of potential concern with your product listings:
- Creator Health Rating (CHR) reflects whether your account has any rule violations or issues, with a score from 0 to 1000.
- Promotion Performance Score (PPS) demonstrated the relative performance of your promotional content as well as any concerns with your ads.
- TikTok’s “Violation Snapshot” meanwhile gives you more insight into policy violations for live-streams and short videos. “If you violate a TikTok Shop Policy, the ticket will show you a 2-minute slice of your live-stream or video that contained the violative content giving you a clearer picture of what specific content breached TikTok Shop policies.”
Collectively, these new tools will provide more insight into the overall health of your TikTok Shop account, and how you can manage and address any restrictions or concerns.
Finally, TikTok’s also launched a new Video Pre-Check Tool, which enables Shop creators to upload videos for review before posting them publicly.
“See if potential violations are detected and correct them before uploading the final version. Although it's still possible to receive a violation after using the tool, it can reduce the likelihood of receiving one, and help you understand why certain types of content might be flagged.”
The Video Pre-Check Tool will automatically check for common violations, including unoriginal content, irrelevant promotions, and still frame content, among others. That could help Shop users avoid potential penalties for such by correcting them ahead of time.
These tools will help TikTok Shop creators avoid potential issues, and ensure that they’re getting the best results with their product listings and promotions.
