Meta Adds Copyright Check Into the Reels Composer on Facebook

Meta’s expanded its content copyright checking tool to the Reels composer on Facebook, as a means to help creators avoid potential restrictions on their content after publishing.

As you can see in this example sequence, shared by @cmcalgary on Threads, Meta’s added a new “Copyright Check” option within the Reels composer tools, which is able to check the content of your Reel for possible violations before you publish.

As per Meta:

“If you turn on copyright check, your eligible reels will be scanned for copyrighted content. If copyright content is found, your reels will be held for 1 hour to allow you to correct any issues before your reel is shown to others.”

Meta also notes that if you don’t turn this on, your Reel will still be copyright checked after publication, and “you may be subject to rights holders’ actions if a match is found.”

So waiting an hour for a check probably makes more sense.
