Hey, did you know that you can add multiple versions of your avatar to your Meta account?
You can, and while I’m not 100% sure why people would necessarily want multiple avatar characters, if you’re really into changing up your appearance, or presenting yourself differently in different elements, you can do so, if you want.
As you can see in these example screens (note: I don’t recall ever making an avatar, so I don’t know what these variants are), if you want to create an alternative avatar character for your Meta profile, which will then be displayed in avatar options across all of your linked accounts (Facebook, Messenger, Instagram), you can do so by going to your Settings, then selecting the “Avatar” option.
That’ll take you to Meta’s Avatar editor, and from there, you can tap on the three dots menu and select “Switch Avatar” from the list. You’ll then be able to choose from another avatar, or create a new one, using Meta’s avatar creation tools.
It could be another fun feature to experiment with, and create variations of yourself using Meta’s ever-evolving avatar generation tools.
Meta continues to add more options to its avatar creation process, with a view to future usage of these characters within both its AR and VR experiences. Meta’s metaverse vision involves the use of digital depictions like this to interact with its expanded digital worlds, and as such, it’s constantly refining and improving its avatar tools to give you more ways to customize your depiction.
Indeed, last week, Meta added new body types, avatar poses and emotes.
It’s also updated its avatar editor in the Horizon mobile app, which enables you to refresh your character’s style via conversational AI prompts”
Meta Horizon Creator Partners can also now upload custom textures or use generative AI retexturing tools to design bespoke avatar clothing in the Horizon Creator Portal, while there are also new parametric face controls for more customization.
“Add to that hairstyles, facial hair options, makeup and face paint, freckles and beauty marks, bindis, and beyond, and you’ve got billions upon billions of combinations and permutations to create the perfect avatar.”
I’m not sure they’ve been a massive hit as yet, but definitely more people are using their Meta avatars in more places, especially in custom stickers and Facebook posts.
And now, you can experiment with multiple avatars at once, so you can try out new options and styles and see if you find them to be a better fit.
